The Impact of micro-behaviours on team performance

What are micro-behaviors? How do they play out at work? And what impact do they have on employee performance?

Imagine having a conversation with a colleague whilst they are checking their emails. Imagine conducting a presentation to a group of senior leaders who never give you eye contact or roll their eyes mid-way through. Now they start interrupting you mid-flow. Now imagine you’re in a team meeting and a manager singles out one individual meeting their quarterly targets, despite this being a team effort.

These are all examples of mirco-behaviors. Micro-behaviours are tiny, subtle, often unconscious behaviours that signal either positive or negative emotions. However, the impact of these behaviors on individual and team performance can be significant.
